IT’S CLOVER’S 100TH ANNIVERSARY! We could not be here today without all of the love and support we receive on a daily basis from people like YOU! <3 So today, we decided to partner with @stringsandcuddles and create these magnificent Celebration Crochet Coasters!
Additionally, it is harvest season, which calls for festivities, get-togethers, and gratitude! Elisa from @stringsandcuddles created the “Celebration Coaster” by combining a flower, a star, and a firework into a single design with festivities in mind. The good thing about this pattern is that it can be made in any color or colors to fit any celebration! This pattern is very easy to make and a lot of fun. Basic crochet stitches such as chain, single, double, treble, picot, and puff stitches are required for this pattern. Ready to take on this project? Come on, let’s begin!
MATERIALS:
- Clover Amour Crochet Hook H (5 mm)
- Clover Jumbo Tapestry Needle (Bent Point)
- Clover Patchwork Mini Scissors
- cotton worsted weight yarn
NOTES:
- Read the pattern carefully before starting.
- This pattern uses US crochet terms.
- This is a very simple pattern worked in the round.
- The gauge for this pattern is not particularly crucial.
- * * Repeat instructions between asterisks as many times as directed or repeat at specified locations
- ( ) Work instructions within parentheses as many times as directed or work a group of stitches all in the same stitch or space.
- The number of stitches in each row is indicated by the numbers at the end of the row.
- Gauge: round 2 measures approximately 2.5 in (diameter, unblocked)
- Skill level: adventurous beginner—intermediate
- Finished measurements: about 6 in (diameter—widest part, unblocked)
ABBREVIATIONS:
- ch(s): chain(s)
- dc: double crochet
- fp: front post
- hdc: half double crochet
- mr: magic ring
- rep: repeat
- sc: single crochet
- sk: skip
- slst: slip stitch
- sp(s): space(s)
- st(s): stitch(es)
- tr: treble crochet
- p: picot – ch 3 and slip stitch into single crochet stitch
- puff2tog: puff 2 stitches together—yarn over, insert your hook into the first stitch indicated, and pull up a loop to the height of your current round. Yarn over again, insert your hook into the same stitch, and pull up another loop—two times, 7 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through 6 loops—2 loops on your hook (the first part of the puff stitch is made). Yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch indicated, and pull up a loop to the height of your current round. Yarn over again, insert your hook into the same stitch, and pull up another loop—two times, 8 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through 6 loops—3 loops on your hook (the second part of the puff stitch is made). Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops to complete both stitches together into one.
- V-st: V stitch—(1DC, ch3, 1DC) all in the same stitch or space
COASTER PATTERN:
- Start with a MR.
- Round 1: Ch3 (count as 1DC), 15DC into the ring. Pull tight the yarn tail to close the ring and slst in the top of ch3 to close the round. 16 DC sts
- Round 2: Ch3, 1DC in 1st st, 2DC in each st around slst in the top of ch3 to close the round. 32 DC sts
- Round 3: Ch6 (count as 1DC + ch3), 1DC in 1st st, *ch1, sk 3 sts, V-st in next st*; Rep from * to * to last 3 sts, ch1, sk 3 sts and slst in the 3rd ch of ch6 to close the round. 8 V-sts, 8 ch-1-sps
- Round 4: Ch1 (does not count as a st), *(1HDC, 1DC, 3TR, 1DC, 1HDC) in ch-3-sp, 1SC in ch-1-sp*; Rep from * to * around and slst in 1st st to close the round. 64 sts
- Round 5: Ch1, FPPuff2tog into last and 1st legs of V-sts from 2 rounds below (refer to the photos below), 1SC in 1st st (HDC) and in next 3 sts, 3P in last SC just made, 1SC in next 3 sts, *FPPuff2tog into next legs of V-sts from 2 rounds below, sk SC st, 1SC in next 4 sts, 3P in last SC just made, 1SC in next 3 sts*; Rep from * to * around slst in 1st (puff) st to close the round. 64 sts, 8 Picot clusters
