Boo-quet Granny Squares

If you love flowers and Halloween as much as we do, you’re going to love these Boo-quet Squares. Think cheerful blooms with a spooky twist, perfect for adding some festive fun to your crochet projects this season. They work up quickly and are a great way to mix playful Halloween vibes with classic crochet charm! MATERIALS:

 

GRANNY FLOWER SQUARE TUTORIAL:

*With center flower color, make a magic ring.

  • Round 1: Ch 3, 12 dc into the ring. Join with sl st to the first dc. (12 sts)
  • Round 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (24 sts) Cut yarn.

*Join petal color in the same st you just finished off your last color.

  • Round 3: Ch 3, [1 dc, 3 tr, 2 dc] in the same st, *sk the next st, sc in the next st, [2 dc, 3 tr, 2 dc] in the next st,* repeat from * around. Join into the bottom of the beginning ch 3. Cut yarn.

*Join the next color in the back of round 3 in the two loops of any sc.

  • Round 4: *Ch 4, 1 sl st around two back loops of next sc,* repeat from * around, join with sl st to beginning ch.
  • Round 5: Sl st into next ch-4 sp, ch 3, 3 dc into the same ch-4 sp, ch 3, *4 dc in the next ch-4 sp, ch 3,* repeat from * around. Join with sl st in the top of beginning ch 3.
  • Round 6: Sl st in the next 3 dc and into the ch-3 sp, [ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, 4 dc] into the same ch-3 space, ch 3, 1 sc in the next ch-3 sp, *ch 3, [4 dc, ch 3, 4 dc] in next ch-3 space, ch 3, 1 sc in the next ch-3 sp – repeat from * around. Ch 3 and join with sl st in the top of the beginning ch 3. Finish off.

*Join the final round color in any ch-3 corner.

  • Round 7: [Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] into the corner, dc in next 4 sts, 4 dc in the next ch-3 space, 4 dc in the next ch-3 space, dc in next 4 sts, *[3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] into the corner, dc in the next 4 sts, 4 dc in next ch-3 space, 4 dc in next ch-3 space, dc in next 4 sts – repeat from * around. Join with sl st in the first dc. Cut the yarn and weave in all ends.

TRIANGLE JACK-O-LANTERN EYES:

  • With black, ch 3, 1 hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook. 1 sl st in the next st. Cut yarn. Sew onto face of flower.

CIRCLE EYES:

  • With black, make a magic circle. 8 sc in the magic circle. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
  • Cut yarn. Sew onto face of flower.
  • Sew on a mouth using your yarn needle.
