Happy fall y’all! Are you looking for a simple design to crochet a pair of fingerless gloves? This is the perfect pattern for you! These easy fingerless crochet gloves are easy to create, comfortable to wear, and suitable for beginners! Keep in mind you can create these in whatever color your heart desires 🙂 You may easily modify and personalize this easy crochet pattern to your preferences. The fact that all you have to do is crochet a flat rectangle/square and stitch it together, leaving a tiny opening for your thumb, is what makes it so beginner-friendly. With this step-by-step tutorial, even a total novice can easily construct these fingerless gloves. Let’s begin!
MATERIALS:
- Clover Amour Crochet Hook G (4 mm)
- Clover Jumbo Tapestry Needle (Bent Point)
- Clover Patchwork Mini Scissors
- tape measure
- DK weight yarn (#3)
NOTES:
- Read the pattern carefully before starting.
- This pattern uses US crochet terms.
- This is a straightforward pattern worked flat—sideways, in back-and-forth rows—then slip-stitched together along the side, leaving an opening for the thumb.
- The number of stitches in each row is indicated by the numbers at the end of the row.
- This pattern is designed for a medium adult-sized hand, but you can easily adjust the fit of your gloves by making more foundation chains (length) and making more or fewer rows (width). See the sizing section below.
- Gauge: 9 sts X 7 rows = 2 inches (in pattern)
- Skill level: easy to adventurous beginner
- Finished measurement: about 8” (length) x 3.75” (width)
ABBREVIATIONS:
- blo: back loop only
- ch(s): chain(s)
- hdc: half double crochet
- rep: repeat
- slst(s): slip stitch(es)
- st(s): stitch(es)
- lhdc: linked half double crochet—insert your hook into the middle loop from the previous stitch made, yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all loops. See the photo illustrations below.
SIZING:
Find your size by measuring the area around your hand’s widest point (not including the thumb). Make the width 1″ less than what your hand actually measures. For instance, if the circumference of your hand is 7″ (not including the thumb), follow the pattern until it is 6″ (unstretched).

FINGERLESS GLOVES PATTERN (make 2):
- Row 1 (RS): Ch 36, 1HDC in 2nd ch from the hook, 1LHDC in next ch and in each ch across. Turn. 35 sts
- Row 2 (WS): Ch1 (does not count as a st), 1HDC (through both loops) in 1st st, 1LHDC through the BLO to last st, 1LHDC (through both loops) in last st. Turn. 35 sts.
- Rows 3–24: Rep Row 2. DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
ASSEMBLY:
Note: To avoid making your gloves too tight, try working your slip stitches loosely.
- Bring both ends together (RS facing in), slst through both loops (rows) for the 1st 6 sts, slst through one end of the panel for the next 8 sts, then skip the next 8 sts from the opposite end. In this manner, cutting the yarn won’t be necessary. Next, bring both ends (rows) back again and slst through both loops (rows) to end. Fasten off and weave in all ends, or you can add the finishing touch by following the instructions below.
OPTIONAL STEP (for a nice finishing touch):
- Ch 1, slst around and slst into the 1st st. Fasten off.
- For the top part of your gloves, attach yarn to any st, ch 1, slst around, and slst into the 1st st. Fasten off.
- Weave in all ends. Done!
